CUBS GET READY TO CRANK UP THE “FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS”

The 2015 football season kicks off for the Brenham Cubs Friday night at Cubs Stadium, as they host the Houston Lamar Texans.

Glen West enters his 18th season as Cubs’ head coach, and says he and the team are excited about getting the campaign underway…

The Cubs return eight starters on defense, including 2014 first-team all-district selections, Khevon Shepherd, Jonahan Homan and Deion Earls.  Also returning are all-district selections, Marquez Bimage, Dillion Thielemann, Trumaine Sweed and Tyrell Rogers.

Offensively, the Cubs look to replace eight starters, including record-setting running back Ernest Patterson, quarterback Caleb Hill and wide receiver Jaquay Cross, as well as three starting offensive linemen.

Sweed will get the bulk of the work at running back, while returning backup Halen Tilly and newcomer Jacob Oehrlein will see time at quarterback.

Also returning is all-state kicker Tien Pham.

Coach West says the key early on is continued improvement and staying with a positive attitude…
