WASHINGTON COUNTY UNEMPLOYMENT RATE SHOWS SLIGHT INCREASE

  

The unemployment rate for area counties shows the rate for October is up slightly, with the October rate in Washington County coming in at 5.3 percent.

This rate is up 3 tenths of a percent from September’s rate of 5 percent, and up 1 and three tenths of a percent from the October 2014 rate of 4.1 percent.

For Austin County, the October unemployment rate was 4.8 percent, 2 tenths of a percent from September’s rate of 4.6 percent, and 6 tenths of a percent higher than October of 2014 rate of 4.2 percent.

For Burleson County, the October unemployment rate of 4.5 percent, up two tenths of a percent from September’s rate, and 5 tenths of a percent higher than in October of 2014 rate of 4 percent.

For Grimes County, the October unemployment rate was 5.4 percent, up 2 tenths of a percent from September’s rate of 5.2 percent, and 1.1 percent higher than October 2014 rate of 4.3 percent.

For the entire Brazos Valley, the unemployment rate for October was 3.9 percent, up 1 tenth of a percent from September’s rate of 3.8 percent, and the same rate as October 2014 rate of 3.8 percent.
