BLINN CHOIRS TO HOLD CONCERT BEFORE GOING “ON THE ROAD”

Before they hit the road on a statewide recruiting tour, the Blinn College chamber and concert choirs will showcase their talents in a pre-tour concert featuring music from across the globe.

The free concert, titled “On the Road,” will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brenham, located at 305 West 3rd St. Both choirs will perform pieces by Latvian, Brazilian and American composers.

“This concert is a chance for us to show the community what we will sing during our upcoming recruiting tour,” said Dr. Paulo Gomes, choir director.

Between the two choirs, 34 students will perform pieces ranging from the Latvian song “O Salutaris Hostia” to Ralph Manuel’s “Alleluia.” The performance will also feature Brazilian and Italian folk songs.

“The choir is much improved because we have been together for the entire school year,” Gomes said. “We will also be debuting new uniforms that we bought with the help of the Blinn Foundation.”

The concert choir is open to all students, while the chamber choir accepts students based on their audition performance.

The Music Program is part of Blinn’s Division of Visual/Performing Arts & Kinesiology, which offers courses in architecture, arts, kinesiology, music, theatre and communication studies. For more information on courses or upcoming performances, visit: www.blinn.edu/vpa.
