WASHINGTON ON THE BRAZOS CELEBRATES 180 YEARS OF TEXAS INDEPENDENCE
The 180th anniversary of Texas Independence was celebrated this weekend at the Washington on the Brazos State Park.
Saturday’s festivities saw the Texas A&M Aggie Band, the Birth of a Republic play, and musket and cannon firing.
On Sunday, the Texas A&M Singing Cadets performed and Senator, Brandon Creighton spoke at the event, as he is a decedent; an 8th generation, of Martin Palmer – a signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
The celebration also saw a man on horseback ride into the park from San Antonio with a letter from

William B. Travis and a cake for everyone.
