LEXINGTON WOMAN DIES IN MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT
A Lexington woman died early Monday morning as a result of a motorcycle accident.
According to Giddings Times, 52-year-old Jo Ann Padget passed away at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin after sustaining injuries to her head during a motorcycle fall in Lexington.
Officer Ted Walton responded to the accident at 2:39 a.m. at the 400 block of Ave. G. When Officer Walton arrived, he found Padget lying in the roadway. Lee County EMS and Lexington EMS were administering first aid.
Authorities believe Padget left her residence to cool off from a verbal disagreement. They believe the moisture in the grass caused her tires to spin and when she went onto the pavement she lost control of the motorcycle. Padget fell from the bike and struck her head. According to Police Chief Clarence Yarbrough, Padget was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Lee County EMS provided ground transportation to Brackenridge Hospital for Padget. When she arrived at the hospital, Padget was pronounced dead.
Authorities are awaiting the results to a toxicology analysis.
