STREET ARTISTS PREPARE FOR TEXAS ARTS AND MUSIC FESTIVAL THIS WEEKEND

Today (Friday) is the first day of The Texas Arts and Music Festival downtown Brenham.

The first annual festival will feature three stages with ten bands, food trucks, and film screenings. Throughout the festival, artists will take exterior walls in Historic Downtown Brenham and turn them into masterful works of art. Participating businesses in downtown Brenham will also host artists with pop-up galleries. Brenham High School art students came out to see street artists in action, working on murals downtown this morning.

Brad Stufflebeam, the founder and Chairman for the festival, says that one of the highlights of the event will be a film screening tonight:

Live music from the Steven Marshall Band will take place tonight at the Home Sweet Farm stage.

Saturday morning at 11 a.m. the Art Village will open at the Ant Street Inn. Music will begin at 12 p.m. and will be going on throughout the day. The Texas Brew Step will begin throughout the historic downtown area at 3 p.m. A map of the sampling locations will be available at the gazebo at the Washington County Courthouse square. Keepsake glasses and tickets for the Brew Step can be purchased online at DowntownBrenham.com/BrewStep, and will also be available at the gazebo the day of the event.

The Texas Arts and Music Festival will have performances on their main stage starting at 4 p.m. Saturday. Featured performers include Julia Hatfield, Sheila Marshall, and ShinyRibs. Stufflebeam says he hopes the event will help celebrate the art and culture of the area:
