THREE DEAD AFTER CAR ACCIDENT NEAR SCHULENBURG
Three people died in a head-on crash in Fayette County Saturday morning.
According to DPS, heavy rain contributed to the deadly accident on US 77- a few miles south of Schulenburg.
The accident happened just before 8:10 a.m. when a 2015 Lexus SUV travelling southbound lost control on the wet roadway and drifted into the northbound lane, striking a 2014 Nissan pickup head-on.
Two people in the Nissan- 67-year-old Roger Cheney and 64-year-old Cynthia Cheney, both of Inez- were pronounced dead at the scene.
The passenger in the Lexus, a 15-year-old boy from Alvin, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The only survivor of the crash was the driver of the Lexus, 52-year-old Denise Cain of LaPorte. Cain suffered critical injuries and was transported to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin. Her condition is unknown at this time.
DPS said all occupants involved in the accident were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
Our prayers are with all the families.
Also remember to check your tread on your tires, walk around your car once a month to look at them and reduce your speed in rain to not hydroplane.
Well as my heart hurts so much for the families of both sides I am at loss as to the pain in my heart for the Hanson family, My prayers are sent
