BRENHAM REST HOME CLARIFIES CLOSING DATE

The media team for Brenham Rest Home, Chatelle and Associates, has issued a correction to their previous statement, citing an error to their original closing date stated.
Brenham Rest Home is owned by Touchstone Communities, based out of San Antonio, and has a listed occupancy of 76 beds. Currently there are 23 residents of the Home.
Dr. Melody Chatelle, President of Chatelle and Associate and Spokesperson for the Brenham Rest Home apologized for the error, and clarified that she had mistakenly sent a draft media statement.
The Brenham Rest Home will, according to Chatelle, not be closing “until the last resident has transitioned to alternative housing.”
KWHI learned yesterday of the Brenham Rest Home’s impending closure, which had been by Dr. Chatelle.
The statement released offered that the “residents and team members mean a great deal” to them, which has made decision difficult “to close a community,” “especially a community with such a long history as Brenham Rest Home in such a wonderful part of Texas as Brenham.”
While there had been an original firm date stated for July, the company now wants to assure “residents, families, and team members” that there will be a “smooth transition.” The statement adds they “will continue to care for all residents until the last resident leaves the building,” and “greatly appreciate everyone’s support during this time of change.”
Dr. Chatelle cited "economic struggles" as the reason for the Home's closing.
Brenham Rest Home is located at 406 Cottonwood St.
If the management cannot properly inform the resident families individually, just 23 residents, instead of getting our news from the radio, it does not surprise me that this is happening. As a friend of one of the resident families, no one has been contacted by phone, or by a formal letter. This type of lack of communication has been disrespectful to the residents and their families. I really don’t care about the building. I care about the families involved.
Why are they closing ???? So much history here.. my Mom worked the night shift for 38 years! I hope there are no plans to tear down this historical building and we will see a parking lot or yet another large home built here!!!
