60LBS OF MARIJUANA CONFISCATED IN FAYETTE COUNTY

  

Yesterday (Monday) at approximately noon, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Interdiction units confiscated 60 pounds of marijuana off I-10 near the 664 mile marker.

Investigator Smith and Sargent Thumann were patrolling on I-10 when they came across a Peterbuilt pulling an empty flatbed trailer.

Smith noticed the driver appeared nervous and kept changing his itinerary. Smith then asked for and obtained permission to search the vehicle.

While investigating, Investigator Smith discovered the air filter canisters on the tractor were lined with lead and contained approximately 60 pounds of marijuana. The estimated street value of the seizure came in at $33,000.

The driver has been identified as Jorge Herrera, age 44 of Penitas. He was arrested and taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center where he has been charged with Felony Possession of Marijuana.
