STAR OF THE REPUBLIC HOSTS “NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM” TONIGHT

The Star of the Republic Museum at Washington on the Brazos will host its own version of “Night at the Museum” tonight (Saturday).

Just like the movie version of “Night at the Museum”, historical characters will come to life this (Saturday) evening at the Star of the Republic Museum.  Beginning at 7:00 p.m., the lights will be turned down, and visitors can tour the museum with a flashlight.  Historical characters like a riverboat captain, a French sailor, a Texas Ranger and others will tell the story of the Texas Republic.

Beginning at 6:30 outside of the museum, families can enjoy a ten minute wagon ride around Barrington Farm, founded by Dr. Anson Jones, the last president of the Republic of Texas.  At 7:45, guests will be taken to a nearby tavern where four old Washington County residents share tales from their lives.

Admission to “Night at the Star of the Republic Museum” is $8 for adults and $5 for students.  Children ages six and under are free.  Anyone with a current Blinn ID also receives free admission, and visitors are encouraged to bring flashlights for the tour.  The museum is located off Highway 105 between Brenham and Navasota on FM 1155 at Washington on the Brazos State Historic Site.  For more information, see their website at www.starmuseum.org.
