BRYAN POLICE SAY DEATHS WERE MURDER/SUICIDE

  

According to Bryan Police, a preliminary autopsy indicates 54-year old Melvin Benefield shot and killed his wife, then his neighbor before turning the gun on himself.

Police discovered the bodies of Benefield, his 46-year old wife Virginia Ann Benefield aned 65-year old Larry Davis at a Bryan apartment complex Wednesday morning.

Investigators said that all three died from the gunshot wounds.

According to online records, Virginia Benefield was released from the Brazos County jail Saturday, for violating an emergency protective order that required her to stay away from Melvin Benefield.

She had received the emergency protective order back in November after she was arrested for assaulting her husband.
