The Brazos Valley Gives website indicates that, as of this (Wednesday) morning, the fundraiser collected $1,352,775. Funds came from 4,737 donations and will benefit around 200 organizations.
This year’s preliminary total surpasses the $1 million goal and last year’s preliminary figure of $1,306,577. The final figure last year was a record $1,561,033, which accounts for prizes and grants awarded at a celebration event in November.
Every year, the Community Foundation of the Brazos Valley hosts the fundraiser to help provide additional resources for nonprofits throughout the seven-county Brazos Valley region. The fundraiser takes place over the course of a month, with Tuesday having served as the conclusion to the event.
Supporters donated through the website and at in-person drop-off locations like the Washington County Chamber of Commerce office in Brenham and at Brookshire Brothers in Caldwell and College Station.
All donations pass through directly to the donor’s charity or charities of choice.
