FINAL RAIL FORUMS HELD IN NAVASOTA & WALLER

The Federal Railroad Administration wrapped up its public comment process Tuesday night with meetings in Navasota and Waller.

During ten public hearings in counties along the proposed route, residents and landowners provided feedback about an environmental study of the proposed high-speed train from Houston to Dallas.

Texas Central, the company that wants to build the train, says they already have more than half of the parcels of land they need in Waller and Grimes counties to complete the route.

The Grimes County meeting was held at Navasota Junior High, many residents in attendance said they oppose the rail, while others turned out to ask numerous questions.

With the series of public hearings complete, the next step will be the final study to be released by the Railroad Administration by the end of the year.

  1. It doesn’t matter what the residents want, it will go through, it’s called eminent domain.

  2. TXDOT already completed a study for an Austin to Houston high speed rail line back in 2011:

Take a look at this report. Everyone (especially along the 290 corridor) should be keeping an eye on this. If the Houston/Dallas goes through, where does Houston to Austin fall on the priority list? Is it next in line?

I certainly don’t like the thought of having something like this running alongside or though my property.
