OVER $22,000 RAISED AT ‘ARTS AND APPETIZERS’ EVENT

Artist Jill Rosenbaum's work drew the highest bids from artwork during the live auction.

Over $22,000 was raised during Thursdays evening’s “Arts and Appetizers” event.  Some of the best, young artists in the Brenham School District put their work on display and up for auction during the Brenham ISD Education Foundation’s annual fundraiser. The reception and auction was held in the lobby of Brenham National Bank.

Preliminary totals from the BISD Education Foundation show that $22,295 was raised during the event.  That greatly exceeds last year’s total of just over $15,000.  This year, $14,280 was raised during the live and silent auctions, $3,720 was raised by the raffle, $3,865 was donated to the Foundation, and $430 was raised by the Graphic Art.

The item that received the highest bid during the live auction was a Hill Country Deer Hunt donated by Bobby Smith.  It was purchased by Sue Johnston for $1300.

The highest bids for a student’s artwork went for a drawing by Jill Rosenbaum.  It was purchased by Dr. Donald Dreahn for $1000.

The Brenham ISD Education Foundation uses the funds raised at the event for mini-grants that are awarded to teachers in the district for items to use in their classrooms.  Anyone wishing to contribute to the BISD Education Foundation can mail their gift to 2211 South Day Street #330, Brenham, Texas 77833.
