ROUND TOP MUSIC FESTIVAL BEGINNING THIS WEEKEND

  

The 48th Round Top Music Festival opens this Saturday, June 9, at Festival Hill.

The Opening Chamber Music Concert at 3:30 PM in the Festival Concert Hall will feature music by Chausson and Beethoven, performed by faculty.

At 7:30 PM, also in the Concert Hall, the Texas Festival Orchestra, featuring young artists in residence and conducted by Charles Olivieri-Munroe, will perform works by Strauss. The Festival Institute's Founder and Artistic Director, pianist James Dick, will join the orchestra in performing Grieg's Concerto for Piano and Orchestra in a, Op. 16.

Other events this week include the Master Classes, held in the Edythe Bates Old Chapel.  The Violin Master Class with Regis Pasquier will open Wednesday at 1:30 p.m., and the Double Bass Master Class with James VanDemark will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.  Each event is free and open to the public.
