PUBLIC INVITED TO SPEAK AT MONDAY’S BURTON ISD MEETING

Burton trustees are inviting the public to speak its piece at Monday night’s Board meeting in the auditorium.

Board President Demetrius Colvin said at the last meeting that he wanted to hear from the community on recent events concerning the Board.  The public will have thirty minutes to speak, with each individual who comes up having three minutes to voice any concerns.  Anyone who wishes to speak will need to sign paperwork before participating.

After meeting in open forum, and following a brief executive session, trustees will consider an agreement that would designate Washington County Extension agents as adjunct staff members.  They will also look at a board policy update, concerning financial ethics, criminal history, and alcohol and drug testing, among other updates.

The Board will also look at giving contractual authority to obligate the school district to Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy for the upcoming school year.  They will also look to agree upon the purchase of attendance credits from the state.

The Board will also look at several reports, such as STAAR testing results from the principal, financial reports, and reports from the athletic director and superintendent.  In addition, they will review Texas school board investment policies and the administrative procedures manual.

Burton ISD will meet Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., in the Burton High School Auditorium on 917 North Main Street.
