Mount Rose Missionary Baptist Church of Brenham has taken a stance against the administration’s controversial immigration policies.

The church says it is sending a letter to city, county and state officials, which condemns the separation of immigrant families at the border.  The letter also reads that the government “has exhibited that it is unable to reliably return many of these children to their parents in a timely fashion”.

Deacon Cecil Webster says he believes churches and the public need to come together in order to change policies.

Webster says this is a divisive issue, but he believes it shouldn’t be.

Webster hopes that many in the community will join them in their movement.

Some citizens of Brenham have already expressed disapproval with the current administration’s policies on immigration.  Almost 100 people gathered in downtown Brenham on June 30th to protest, as part of a nation-wide rally.
