SOMERVILLE ISD TO HIRE SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER FOR CAMPUSES

  

The City of Somerville has partnered with Somerville ISD to provide a resource officer for all campuses through each school day.

The school resource officer will patrol each campus during the day, and be present at all athletic events.  The officer’s schedule will be subject to change, depending on afterschool activities.

Somerville ISD intends to cover 80 percent of the officer’s estimated $52,000 salary, with the city covering the remaining 20 percent.

The school district is currently in the interviewing process, and plans to hire the new officer by the start of the new school year.
