Two people have been arrested following a two-county, high-speed chase that involved multiple agencies, Wednesday evening.

The chase started just after 6:00 p.m. in Grimes County and ended in Brazos County.

Grimes County Sheriff Don Sowell said the chase started when a Navasota police officer was attempting to stop a man who attempted to cash a hot check.

Authorities pursued the suspect in a pickup truck up the northbound lanes of Highway 6.  The chase eventually ended in Brazos County, near the William D. Fitch Parkway exit in College Station.

Police the pair admitted to stealing checks from a business' mailbox, washing and forging the checks, then trying to cash the forged checks.  Officers also found several other stolen checks in the truck from victims in other cities.
