BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO HOLD HEARING FOR TAX RATE, BUDGET MONDAY
Burton trustees will meet Monday evening to consider the adoption of the proposed tax rate and budget.
The board will look to officially adopt the budget and set the property tax rate for the new school year at the meeting. Board members will hear any public comment, prior to adoption.
Trustees approved a tax rate of $1.17 per $100 for publishing at their most recent meeting. The rate includes $1.04 for maintenance and operations, and 13 cents for debt services. The board lists budget projections at $5.26 million for the new year, compared to an operating budget of roughly $5.5 million last year.
The board will also consider amendments for the 2017-18 budget. Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy says the amendments are to close out the board’s 2017-18 books for auditing purposes. They will also consider the approval of a staff salary increase for the new year, and accept any new hires or resignations.
The Burton board will meet Monday night, at 6:30 p.m., in the Burton High School Auditorium.
