BRENHAM BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS MEETING MONDAY

The Brenham Board of Adjustments will look at a pair of variance requests and a special exception request at Monday’s meeting.

Dixie Street Storage owner Harrison Allen is looking to construct an additional building at the business on 405 North Dixie Street.

This request is asking to waive or reduce off-street parking and loading requirements, stating they are unnecessary for what the building will be used for.

A special exception was previously granted to the property in June 2016, reducing parking requirements from 51 spaces to four.

City staff are recommending the exception be allowed, because they believe the current property has adequate parking, and strictly enforcing the parking ordinance would likely create un-used parking spaces.

The board will also look at variances for a single family residence at 211 North Austin Street.  The variances are asking to reduce the standard 25-foot rear yard setback to 15-feet and 9-inches, as well as allow a 93-foot lot depth where typically 115 feet is required.

Staff members say that the rear setback variance would not be in line with the intent of the zoning ordinance.  Therefore, they are recommending the city deny the rear yard setback reduction, but approve the lot depth reduction.

Board members will meet Monday at 5:15 p.m., on the second floor of City Hall.
