ASCO EQUIPMENT DESTROYED BY OVERNIGHT FIRE
A Brenham business has been destroyed by an overnight fire.
Brenham Firefighters spent most of the evening at ASCO Equipment, after fire broke out Monday night at the business on Highway 290 West across from Rose Bowl Lanes.
Numerous local volunteer fire departments were called out to assist with the massive blaze, which was reported just before 8:00, Monday night.
Supplying mutual aid were firefighters from: Berlin, Chappell Hill, Salem and Gay Hill, as well as Washington County CERT.
Highway 290 was closed in both directions, due to the hydrant lines running across the highway and clouds of smoke blowing across the road. On the scene, directing traffic, were Brenham Police, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies, Citizens on Patrol, DPS and Texas Department of Transportation.
Units battled the blaze for nearly eight hours before it was eventually extinguished.
The highway was closed until early this (Tuesday) morning.
Brenham Fire Chief Ricky Boeker said the building is a total loss.
The cause of the destructive blaze is under investigation.
No injuries have been reported.
