OUT-OF-COUNTY BIRTH CERTIFICATES BRIEFLY UNAVAILABLE STARTING NEXT FRIDAY

Out-of-county birth certificates will briefly be unavailable starting late next week, as the state is implementing a new software system.

Washington County Clerk Beth Rothermel said at Tuesday’s county commissioners meeting that the state will be switching to the new Texas Electronic Vital Events Registrar (TxEVER) system, which will replace the Texas Electronic Registrar system.

Because of this, requests for out-of-county birth certificates will cut off on December 28th, at 4 p.m.  They will be unavailable through January 1st, and the new system will not be functional until January 2nd.

If anyone needs an out-of-county birth certificate, Rothermel encourages them to come by the county clerk’s office before 4 p.m. next Friday.  Anyone born in Washington County can still access their birth records as normal, as those are stored on file locally.
