WARRANTS FOR ASSAULT, THEFT, SMUGGLING AMONG CHARGES IN FIVE ARRESTS BY SHERIFF’S OFFICE
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office arrested five people between Thursday and Saturday.
Shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday, deputies located a suspect with an outstanding felony warrant in the 2200 block of South Market Street. 37-year-old Trenton Dewayne Howard of Brenham was taken into custody and booked in at the Washington County Jail for Assault of a Family/Household Member Impeding Breath/Circulation, along with a parole violation.
A few minutes past 12:15 a.m. Saturday, Deputy Matthew Presswood conducted a traffic stop in the 13500 block of Highway 105 for speeding. During the stop, the sheriff’s office reported observing a white crystal substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. The driver and passengers had outstanding warrants and were transported to the Washington County Jail. 51-year-old Contessa Denise Woolfolk of Bellville was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, 4-200 Grams, two counts of No Rabies Vaccination, four counts of Cruelty to an Animal, and two counts of Unregistered Animal. 39-year-old Jessica Ann Underwood of Brenham was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1, 4-200 Grams, Theft, and Theft of Property $100 - $750. 36-year-old Quashaleque Alex of Brenham was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Contempt of Court – Failure to Appear for Jury Duty, Injury to a Child/Elderly/Disabled Individual with Intent to Cause Serious Bodily Injury, and Smuggling of Persons out of Kinney County.

At 12:30 a.m., Corporal Adam Zavala initiated a traffic stop at Highway 105 and FM 50 for failure to maintain a single lane. Upon making contact, the driver reportedly displayed signs of intoxication. 29-year-old Edwin Cuevas Martinez of Brenham was taken to the Washington County Jail and charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Under 15 Years of Age.
