WASHINGTON CO. OFFICIALS TO BE SWORN IN TUESDAY

Several new faces on the Washington County Commissioners Court will be sworn in at a ceremony New Year’s Day.

New County Judge John Durrenburger will take his oath of office Tuesday.  Durrenburger ran unopposed in November’s general election, and defeated current County Judge John Brieden in March’s Republican Primary.  Brieden has served as County Judge since his election in 2010.

Also being sworn in is new Precinct 2 County Commissioner Candice Bullock.  Bullock defeated incumbent commissioner Luther Hueske in March’s Primary, and won over Democrat Ira Newsome in November’s election.

Including the two new members on commissioners court, a total of 12 oaths will be administered at the ceremony.  Outgoing elected officials will also be recognized.

The ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday morning at 9 a.m., in the district courtroom of the Washington County Courthouse.
