SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR WASHINGTON CO., BURTON TO START 2019
The first sales tax rebates of 2019 have been released for Brenham, Burton, and Washington County.
Washington County received a payment of $262,444 in January, a 15-percent uptick over January of 2018, where it received $227,948.
Brenham received $515,324, 1.78 percent less than the payment the city received in January of 2018. That payment was $524,703.
Meanwhile, Burton was distributed $5,239, 3.47 percent more than last January’s payment of $5,063.
Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported that this January, the state sent out $734.7 million in local sales tax allocations. That’s 3.6 percent up from the state’s payment in January of 2018.
