JIM KOLKHORST ANNOUNCES BID FOR BLINN BOARD

A local businessman has announced his intent to file for a seat on the Blinn Board of Trustees.

Jim Kolkhorst

Jim Kolkhorst plans to file for At-Large Position Two, currently held by longtime trustee Atwood Kenjura. This follows Kenjura’s announcement that he would not be seeking another term, after 43 years on the board.

Kolkhorst is the CEO of Kolkhorst Foods, LLC, a franchisee of seven Burger Kings in the Brazos Valley area. After graduating from Brenham High School in 1984 and playing baseball for Blinn, he went on to graduate from Texas Christian University in 1988, with a degree in Business Management.

Jim and his wife, Lois, moved back to Brenham in 1994 when he took over operation of Kolkhorst Petroleum Company, Inc.

Kolkhorst has served in several organizations, including past President of the Blinn College Alumni and Friends Board, and past Chairman of the Board for the statewide Texas Food and Fuel Association. His wife, Lois, is the current State Senator for District 18.

Kolkhorst believes his business experience can help shape Blinn’s future into one that is “bright and beneficial” to students, staff, and everyone that Blinn impacts.

Kolkhorst thanks Kenjura for his many years of service on the board, saying his leadership has guided Blinn for over four decades. He says he would be honored if the voters allow him to serve in this position.

Wednesday was the first day for candidates to file for a place on the ballot for the election coming May 4th.  The last day to file is Friday, February 15th, while early voting begins Monday, April 22nd.
