SALES TAX REFUNDS UP FOR ALL LOCAL ENTITIES IN FEBRUARY

  

Washington County, Brenham, and Burton all showed increases in state sales and use tax distributions this month.

For February, the county received $380,176, over 36.8 percent more than last February’s total of $277,788.  So far this year, the county has received $642,621, a 27 percent increase over last year’s $505,736 over the same period.

Brenham’s rebate this month totaled $641,044, about 2 percent more than February of last year when the city received $627,908.  This year, the city’s refund totals $1,156,369, which is 0.3 percent more than last year’s $1,152,612.

Burton’s February rebate reached $9,221, up over 6.6 percent compared to last February’s $8,647.  So far in 2019, Burton has received $14,460, over 5.4 percent more than February at this point last year, at $13,710.

According to Comptroller Glenn Hegar, the state distributed $953.9 million in February, up 4.6 percent from last February, and up 4.2 percent for the year so far.
