WASHINGTON CO. COMMISSIONERS TO DISCUSS RESOLUTION SUPPORTING RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT CENTER REFORM

  

Washington County Commissioners will consider supporting stronger oversight on residential treatment facilities at their meeting tomorrow (Tuesday).

The court will view a resolution supporting House Bill 1698 and Senate Bill 781, filed respectively by State Representative Ben Leman and Senator Lois Kolkhorst.

The two bills aim to, among other things, require the Health and Human Services Commission to seriously weigh public comments received concerning the licensing of a facility.

These bills were filed after the building and licensing of the Bluebonnet Haven Youth Treatment Facility just outside of Brenham last year.  The facility was built despite strong opposition from the community.

Commissioners will meet tomorrow morning at 9 a.m., at the Washington County Courthouse.
