SPRING CLEANUP EVENT BEGINS THURSDAY FOR BRENHAM RESIDENTS

Brenham residents can begin participating in the annual Spring Cleanup Event tomorrow (Thursday).

The event gives city and Washington County residents the opportunity to get rid of their refuse for free.

The Citizens Collection Station on Old Chappell Hill Road will offer disposal for city residents this Thursday through Saturday.  County residents can take part from April 25th to the 27th.

Customers need to show proof of residence and ID upon arrival.  This open collection event is only for non-hazardous materials and non-commercial customers.

The first 500 pounds of debris per household can be dumped at no charge.  Anything over that will be charged at the full rate.  Currently, the collection station charges $90 per ton of non-compactible debris, and $22.50 per ton of brush and yard waste.

Appliances with coolant will be assessed a $20 removal fee prior to drop-off.  Tires will be taken at the normal gate rate.  While household computers will be accepted, large quantities of computers will be turned away.  Propane tanks and loads with dirt, cement, and/or bricks will be rejected.

Business hours for the Citizens Collection Station are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturdays.
