BLINN-BRENHAM THEATRE CONCLUDES 2018-19 SEASON WITH 10-MINUTE PLAY FESTIVAL

Blinn-Brenham’s Theatre Arts Program will conclude its 2018-19 season with its annual 10-Minute Play Festival this weekend.

The Play Festival will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday, at the Dr. W.W. O’Donnell Performing Arts Center.

The festival will consist of three 10-minute plays written by local high school students.  Each production will be directed and performed by Blinn theatre arts majors.

During the intermission, Blinn’s technicians will present their award-winning work before concluding the festival with Theatre Arts Director Brad Nies’ latest play: “The Prisoners of Driscoll Street”.

The one-act play was a featured production at the 22nd Annual Black Box New Play Festival in Brooklyn, New York earlier this year.  It is based on the Ice-Box Murders that occurred in Houston in 1965.

Nies said this is an opportunity for the theatre students to grow not only as actors and technicians, but as directors.  He said the College wanted to get local high schools involved this year, and had a great response with the scripts submitted.

Tickets for all shows are $10 for adults, and $5 for students, children, and senior citizens.  To purchase tickets, go online to www.blinn.edu/boxoffice, email boxoffice@blinn.edu, or call 979-830-4024.
