WASHINGTON-ON-THE-BRAZOS SUNDOWN SOCIAL SET FOR APRIL 27TH

  

The Washington on the Brazos State Park Association will celebrate 183 years of Texas at its annual Sundown Social next weekend.

The social will be held Saturday, April 27th at 6 p.m., at the Rockin’ Star Ranch in Brenham. The event includes a gourmet steak dinner by a team of chuck wagon cookers, cocktails, auctions including Texian treasures, and a concert featuring Kelly Willis and Bruce Robison.

This year’s theme for the event will be “When Roots Run Deep” in honor of Jim Ellison and his contributions to Washington on the Brazos. Ellison is a past president of the park association, and a longtime advisory board member.  He was also the owner of Ellison’s Greenhouses which operated in Washington County for 27 years.

The event is chaired this year by Joel and Denise Romo. Joel Romo says the event will have plenty of opportunities for visitors to show their support for the state park.

 

All proceeds from the event will benefit the state park association, going toward its programming and enhancement of the 293-acre state park.

Tickets are limited for the event, and the deadline to RSVP is Friday. Overnight accommodations are available at Rockin’ Star Ranch.
