BRENHAM CITY COUNCIL TO MEET IN EXECUTIVE SESSION TO DISCUSS ECONOMIC DEV. PROJECT

The Brenham City Council will meet in executive session at its meeting Thursday, to discuss an economic development project.

In executive session, the council will discuss “Project Hi-Speed”. According to the posted agenda, the discussion regards information that the city has received from a business prospect, along with the “offer of financial or other incentives” to the prospect.

The agenda says the city is seeking to have this prospect locate in or near Brenham, and is conducting economic development negotiations.

Following executive session, the council will act on a performance agreement of the Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) regarding “Project Hi-Speed”.

Also on the agenda, the council will act on an amendment to the Brenham Community Development Corporation (BCDC) bylaws. The amendment would allow people who do not live in Brenham city limits to serve on the BCDC Board.  The BCDC Board has recommended the bylaws provide that membership be limited to no more than two non-city residents.

The council will also:

  • Issue second reading of an ordinance establishing exterior construction material requirements.  This is the second reading of the “metal housing” ordinance passed at the council’s last meeting.
  • Act on a rebid for a city project related to the 24-inch raw water line lowering at Sandy Creek.
  • Consider the purchase of a trencher for the gas department through BuyBoard.
  • Discuss a one-year contract extension for generator maintenance and inspection for various city facilities.

The council will meet Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m., at City Hall.

  1. The metal building prohibition ordinance is being forced on property owners like the mass transit train was being forced on my brother’s property in Grimes county. Government is out of control both cases. The population of Texas continues to grow with transplants from socialistic mentality driven states. I encourage Native Texans to stand up and maintain their birth rights. True Texans do not deserve or should tolerate the abolishment of their natural born rights, especially when these rights are under attack by outside socialistic transplants.

  2. Looks like the so called temporary ban iof metal building construction is now a second reading of a permanent ban of metal building construction. It sure is strange how this diplomatic process had evolved from this house location.
