WASHINGTON CO. UNEMPLOYMENT RATE HOLDS STEADY

  

The jobless rate in Washington County stayed steady in March.

According to the Texas Workforce Commission, the county’s unemployment rate remained unchanged from February at 3.7 percent.  In March of 2018, the county’s jobless rate was 4 percent.

The county’s labor force last month was 15,249, with 558 out of work.  In February, the workforce totaled 15,111, with 554 jobless.  The labor force last March was also 15,111, with 605 unemployed.

The state’s unemployment rate remained unchanged over the past month, staying at 3.8 percent.

The Commission said growth in the state economy continued in March, with 22,600 seasonally adjusted nonfarm positions added over the month.  March marked the 107^th straight month of annual growth for total nonfarm employment.
