RIVER FLOOD WARNINGS FOR BRAZOS, NAVASOTA RIVERS, MIDDLE YEGUA CREEK

A River Flood Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for several area rivers, with forecasts calling for heavy chance of rain through the rest of the week.
Warnings remain in effect for the Brazos River and Middle Yegua Creek until late Saturday night, and the Navasota River until Monday morning.
While the Brazos River near Hempstead is projected to stay below flood stage through Monday, reports have come in that the river is out of its banks at Highway 159 East, on both the Austin and Waller County sides. There are also reports of waters nearing or passing the banks at Highway 290 and Highway 105.
The river passes south of Hempstead at Cochran on Highway 159, east of Chappell Hill on Highway 290, and west of Navasota on Highway 105.
The Brazos at Richmond and near Rosharon are also above flood stage at 47 and 49 feet, respectively.
The forecast has the river at Richmond dipping below flood stage Sunday afternoon, but staying at moderate flood stage through Monday near Rosharon. These projections are according to the National Weather Service’s Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service.
In addition, the levels at Middle Yegua Creek near Dime Box Wednesday morning were 9.8 feet, with flood stage at 10 feet. The forecast calls for the river to rise above flood stage by early Thursday, and continue to rise to just under 11 feet by Friday afternoon. It is projected to fall below flood stage Saturday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the levels at Navasota River near Normangee were 14.9 feet as of Wednesday morning, with flood stage at 15 feet. Forecasts call for the river to rise above flood stage by late Thursday evening, and continue to rise to near 15.6 feet by early Sunday morning. It is expected to fall below flood stage Sunday before midnight.
The Colorado River above La Grange hit 26.4 feet late Sunday night, just above flood stage at 26 feet, but quickly fell back down below. It is expected to crest Friday morning at 22.9 feet.
Davidson Creek near Lyons is projected to crest 15 feet early Friday morning, a foot below flood stage.
