CITY OF BRENHAM TO HOST KIDS TO PARKS DAY MAY 18TH
Next Saturday, the City of Brenham will be celebrating Kids to Parks (KTP) Day.
KTP Day is a nationwide celebration of the outdoors organized by National Park Trust, and designed to connect kids and families with their local, state, and national parks.
By discovering and exploring public lands, kids across the country can learn about park stewardship; outdoor recreation; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); and the history of the country.
Brenham’s celebration will take place on Saturday, May 18th from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at both Fireman’s Park and the Blue Bell Aquatic Center.
The day will begin at Fireman’s Park at 9 a.m., with kids outdoor photography with Scott Hill of the Brenham Portrait Gallery. Then at 10 a.m., there will be an interactive story-time on monarch butterflies and honey bees with Texas Master Naturalist Debra Healy. Following at 11 a.m., personal trainer Michelle Rigsby will teach family yoga.
Starting at noon, activities will shift to the Blue Bell Aquatic Center with a water safety demonstration. Rounding out the day of activities from 12:30 to 2 p.m. will be a free swim in the outdoor leisure pool.
