INCREASE IN SALES TAX REBATES FOR BURTON, DIP FOR BRENHAM, WASHINGTON CO.

  

Sales and tax distributions were only up for Burton this month, as rebates were down slightly for Brenham and Washington County.

Washington County’s rebate in May was $266,169, down 1.4 percent from the $270,135 payment it received last May.  So far this year, the county has received $1,325,628, an 11.3 percent increase over last year’s $1,190,904 over the same timeframe.

May’s rebate for Brenham was $602,965, down 2.96 percent from last May’s payment of $621,412.  For 2019 so far, the city has received $2,830,646, up 4.1 percent from last year’s $2,717,290.

Burton received $7,167 in May, a 10.4 percent bump from last May, when it received $6,491.  For the year, Burton has received $35,179, 18.82 percent above last year’s payment to date at $29,606.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reports the state paid out $867.7 million in May, up 0.7 percent from last May, and up 4.4 percent for the year to date.
