PANTHERS TAKE GAME-1 OF AREA SERIES
Despite the constant threat of storms, the Burton Panthers rolled to a 10-0 win in their Area Playoff opener with Thorndale.
Aaron Kohring had a huge night, both on the mound and at the plate.
Korhing blasted a pair of three-run homers at Nutrabolt Stadium in Bryan, including the shot that ended the run-rule victory in the sixth inning. Kohring also had a sacrifice fly, giving him seven runs batted in on the night.
On the mound, the Panther senior went five-and-a-third innings, yielding just one hit and striking out 10. Kohring did walk seven batters, leading to his exit in the sixth inning. Cash Callahan finished up the sixth without giving up a run.
Callahan also shined at the plate, with three hits including a double. He also scored twice and drove in a run. The Panthers also got three hits, including a double, from Jackson Kalkhake. Tristan Brantley added two hits, including a triple, and scored twice.
The Panthers take a one-game to none lead into Friday’s possible double header back at Nutrabolt Stadium. First pitch for game-two is set for 5:00 p.m. The games can be heard beginning at 4:30 on AM-1280 KWHI, FM-101.7 and www.kwhi.com.
