CITY OF BRENHAM BEGINNING RECONSTRUCTION ON FAULKNER ST.
The City of Brenham has started road work on Faulkner Street.
Street crews began work today (Monday) on the road, from South Lubbock Street to the end of Faulkner Street. Sections of the roadway will be limited to vehicular traffic through the work zones from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Brenham Street Department Superintendent Brian Smith said the plan is to have the road ready in two weeks, but there is a chance it could be completed sooner depending on the weather.
Reconstruction of the roadway will be done in phases throughout this time period.
Smith said this road project is just one of several that are planned by the city each year.
The reconstruction will involve tilling up the current roadway, grading the sub-base and adding bulk cement to stabilize it. After the cement is applied, a 2-inch asphalt layer will be added to the new roadbed which should improve the street surface for several years.
There will be times that dusty conditions will be noticed, especially as cement is added to the roadway. The public is asked to be patient with crews and work zones. They are also asked to park all cars in driveways or off the roadways between work hours.
City staff will work with residents to get access to homes throughout the process.
