ONE DEAD, ONE INJURED AFTER DROWNING AT LAKE SOMERVILLE

  

One man is dead and another injured after a drowning at Welch Park at Lake Somerville.

Somerville police say a pair of men from Houston were walking into the lake around 5:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, when they hit a drop-off near shore.

A 20-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.  A younger man, reported to be his brother, was taken by life flight to an area hospital in an unknown condition.

Several parts of the lake are fully or partially closed due to flooding.  According to http://somerville.lakesonline.com, the lake sits at 252 feet, more than 14 feet above the full pool of 238 feet, and six feet below flood pool at 258 feet.
