AUTHORITIES RELEASE NAME OF MAN WHO DROWNED IN LAKE SOMERVILLE
The identity of the Houston man who died after drowning at Lake Somerville over the weekend has been released.
20-year-old Jorge Lopez was pronounced dead at the scene Sunday afternoon, according to Burleson County Justice of the Peace Johnny Towslee.
Lopez, along with his 18-year-old brother Eduardo, also of Houston, were walking into the lake around 5:30 p.m. when they hit a drop-off near shore, according to Somerville police. Police said neither knew how to swim.
Eduardo Lopez was taken by helicopter to CHI St. Joseph in Bryan. He was no longer a patient at the hospital as of Monday.
