BRENHAM, WASHINGTON CO. TO TEST EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM FRIDAY

Residents of Brenham and Washington County should keep an eye on their electronic devices tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, as there will be a county-wide test of the emergency notification system.

The test of the Citizen Alert system will be performed at 4:15 p.m. for those currently registered in the system.  At that time, those that have registered for Citizen Alert will receive a phone call, text, or email, depending on what notification preference was set during registration.

The recording will let residents know that this is a test of the emergency notification system, and ask them to follow the prompts for verification.  Once verified, no further action is required.

To ensure as many people are notified in cases of emergency, it is essential that the system is tested and people are registered to receive notifications.

Residents can register by visiting www.localevent.info, a new site intended as a single point of contact for residents during an emergency.  The site is provided in partnership by Washington County and the City of Brenham.  In the event of an emergency, the site will be updated with important notifications and information to keep everyone informed.

If residents do not have Internet access or an email, they can contact the City of Brenham at 979-337-7200 to be registered manually.
