BRENHAM SPELLERS COMPETE AT REGIONAL BEE IN BRYAN

The top three finishers in the Washington County Spelling Bee competed this past weekend at the Regional Spelling Bee in Bryan.

Corbin Brooks, Sadaf Shireen, and Levi DuPont competed in the Zone 9 Region Spelling Bee Saturday at Rudder High School against 42 other students from Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, and Robertson Counties.

Brooks, a 3rd grader at Alton Elementary School and the winner of the Washington County Bee, placed seventh overall at the Regional Bee.  DuPont, a 6th grader at Brenham Middle School, finished 11th, while Sadaf Shireen, also a 6th grader at Brenham Middle School, went out in the second round.

The top two spellers at the Regional Bee advance on to the Houston Public Media Bee February 29th.  The top two spellers there go to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. from May 25-28.
