The Fayette County Dispatch Department at the Sheriff’s Office is credited with safely locating an elderly man missing out of Houston.
(Houston Police Dept.)
According to Sheriff Keith Korenek, dispatchers on duty Thursday had heard a report on the news of an individual who had been missing from the Houston area.
Just after 9:15 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call reporting a subject had run off the road on Old Waelder Road, one mile east of the Gonzales County line. It was reported the subject was “very disoriented”, and was approximately 95 years old.
According to Korenek, dispatchers referred to the reports from earlier and sent a DPS trooper to the scene, who was able to identify the man as 94-year-old Richard Jennings, who had indeed been reported as a missing person out of Houston.
Jennings was taken to Gonzales Hospital by Fayette County EMS. The family was contacted and told where they could find their family member.
