BLINN POSTPONES REOPENING OF STUDENT HOUSING, FOOD SERVICES, LIBRARIES
Blinn College has postponed the reopening of student housing, food services, and physical libraries through April 3rd.
While Governor Abbott’s executive order Thursday closing schools does not apply to colleges and places of higher education, the College said today (Friday) that this decision was made out of an abundance of caution, and to support the protection of public health.
College operations will still resume on Monday, with most employees working remotely. All courses will resume in an online format. Select labs that were unable to be converted to an online format due to accreditation guidelines such as dental hygiene, paramedic, physical therapist assistant, and welding are postponed until after Friday, April 3rd.
While students are not required to return to campus, other on-campus services such as learning, writing, and testing centers and computer labs will be open and available on a limited basis.
Students without alternative housing possibilities, including foster and international students, may contact Dr. Becky McBride at becky.mcbride@blinn.edu.
The College said it remains committed to helping students reach their educational goals, and that student health and safety remains its top priority.
