BURTON ISD POSTPONES RETURN TO SCHOOL INDEFINITELY
Burton ISD has joined Brenham ISD in indefinitely extending the suspension of normal school operations.
Burton ISD said in a statement Monday that it realizes the health and safety of students, staff, and the community is vital during this COVID-19 situation, and as such is delaying the return to classes beyond Monday, April 6th.
The district said it will continue to work closely with local and state leaders to accommodate their stay-home directives, and will wait for the go-ahead from health officials that it is safe to go back.
Communication will be released at least one week prior to resuming normal school operations to allow for time to prepare and for custodial staff to again clean school facilities.
The district said it will continue to provide drive-thru meals and remote learning resources and opportunities – through the end of the school year if necessary.
The district thanked parents and caretakers for their role in providing educational support for children, especially during this time. It offered support for anyone who is struggling with the changes that COVID-19 has caused in their lives.
The district asks for the continued following of social distancing recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in order to protect members of the community from the spread of the virus.
