Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek reports that early Sunday morning, just after 1:15 a.m., a stolen truck from the Houston area and a chain were used to pull off the ATM’s doors.  Approximately $40,000 in cash was stolen during the burglary.

Camera footage from the bank showed three suspects working together to burglarize the ATM, all dressed in black with black masks.  Initial investigation indicates there may have been a fourth suspect parked out of camera view in another vehicle to provide transportation away from the crime.

Korenek in his report said it is apparent that the suspects were “proficient” in breaching the ATM, as the duration of time shown by camera footage during the incident from start to finish is approximately two minutes.

The Sheriff’s Office recovered the stolen vehicle, which will be processed for evidence and possible identification of suspects.  It is also reaching out to surrounding agencies who may be investigating similar crimes.

  1. This has to be an inside job….why in the world would a small town like RT have that much money in an ATM and who would know?? 4 people , 10 gs each umm yeah definetly inside job…. Definetly not random and neither was Burton when it got robbed… My opinion!!!

    1. Definitely, sounds like an inside connections or job. All banks should have SECURITY SYSTEMS and SECURITY SYSTEM ALERTS!

  2. The FDIC was created by the 1933 Banking Act, enacted during the Great Depression to restore trust in the American banking system. The FDIC provides deposit insurance to depositors in U.S. commercial banks and savings banks.

What that means is that the FDIC (not FCIC) will in fact NOT be giving the bank their money back. The FDIC insures the banks customers, not the bank. Maybe before you post comments like you should do your research. Theft is wrong and there is no government bailout for this. Did you bother to think about the customers who needed to use that machine for legitimate reasons to withdraw cash to pay bills, or conduct other business who now cannot do that because someone decided to destroy it and rob it. The correct definition for comments like the one above is ignorance, they simply have no clue about what they are talking about.

  3. It’s ok they are gonna get their money back FCIC INSURANCE the Bank gonna get another GOVT BALLOUT from pandemic stimulus package.

    1. First of all it’s called FDIC! Second what does your comment have anything positive or helpful about this news statement? Third so your saying it’s totally fine to go steal, rob property that doesn’t belong to you because it’s insured and everything will be fine! How ridiculous do you sound or look now in our time of crisis? I’d say rethink your thoughts and proofread your comment before hitting send because the world does not need or better yet our community these painful thoughts thinking it’s fine and dandy to take whatever is NOT yours!

      1. Well if we had what we called dances back in the day everybody leaving the dance at round top hall would of seen the robbery and handle it with swift justice oh those were the days
When they open 290 and more and more people discovering round top we have a lot of evil driving around always carry
