COUNTY TO SET UP DRIVE-THRU COVID TESTING, SUNDAY

Washington County officials have announced they are working with state and local partners and the Texas Military Department to provide a free, one-day drive-thru test collection site this Sunday, (May 3).

Mobile testing teams will be deployed throughout Texas, designed to focus on rural areas that have not had access to testing or areas where outbreaks require additional testing capacity.

Testing is for individuals currently experiencing COVID-19 symptoms.  Those who want to be tested will be required to complete a call-in or online questionnaire.

The phone number and website to complete the questionnaire will not be available to Washington County officials until Friday (May 1), 48-hours before testing.

Once the application is accepted, you will be notified of the time and location of your appointment. Identification is required. Transportation to and from the location is your responsibility and you must remain in your vehicle during the test collection.

All applicants are not guaranteed to be tested; however, anyone experiencing symptoms is encouraged to call and complete the questionnaire.

Residents are encouraged to continue calling the COVID-19 Helpline at 979-337-8420 with questions or concerns.

  1. look like the only reason drive thru testing was even being offered was due to the recent publicity caused by the huge outbreak in a nursing home in the county .

  2. Calm down people, it’s not testing everyone and Brenham/Washington County isn’t the only place to not test the ENTIRE population. You can cue the hypochondriacs already since they’ll claim to have symptoms so they can take the test. If I’m not experiencing symptoms, I’m not taking the test so someone that is can have it. It’s not like these tests are in such ample supply.

  3. 1 day? Kind of late in the Pandemic, especially since other counties had testing since early April! And Washington County for just 1 day!! Gheez…
