Fifty-two Blinn nursing students became members of the Spring 2020 graduating class, earning degrees from Blinn’s Associate Degree Nursing Program (ADN).

Due to COVID-19, Spring 2020 graduates participated in a virtual ceremony on the video-conferencing app, Zoom. To make the unconventional graduation special, Blinn faculty created a special video to congratulate graduates.

Karla Ross, Associate Degree Nursing Program Director, said, “These students showed their deep desire to serve others during this unprecedented time. I am proud of the flexibility and perseverance they demonstrated as they finished nursing school in the midst of this crisis.”

Blinn’s two-year program sets students up to transfer to four years or enter the workforce after passing the NCLEX-RN (National Council Licensure Examination- Registered Nurse). Graduates who enter the workforce with a degree from Blinn and pass their NCLEX-RN see between a 97 and 100 percent placement rate and can expect to earn an average of $53,000 a year.

In the fall of 2019, Blinn’s ADN program had a 100 percent pass rate for the NCLEX-RN for the third consecutive year. The state average is 88.07 percent. Graduates who pass their board exams qualify to work in many settings, including home health, dialysis, hospitals, clinics, and physicians’ offices.

Nursing students normally spend at least two days per week in clinical rotations, in addition to lab, simulation, and lectures. Most students spend 15 to 24 hours every week in required activities and dedicate 30 or more hours to studying and preparation.
