BRENHAM F.D. EXTINGUISHES ILLEGAL TRASH BURN
The Brenham Fire Department was called out to an illegal burn, Friday night.
Just before 7:00 p.m., the department was dispatched to the 300 block of Shed Johnson Lane.
At the scene they found a trash pile on fire. The department extinguished the fire and advised the property owner that it is illegal to burn inside the city limits.
The firefighters returned to service after a short time at the scene.

Gosh, even the byline for this story mentions the word “illegal”. Shouldn’t citizens be aware of the laws of the community in which they live? And no citation or ticket given… There are only two reasons for that–either the enforcement authorities don’t believe that the law is a valid one, or they are too frightened to enforce it.
Or they acted on common sense. I know it’s in short supply these days.
